The dialogue of democracy is the principal purpose of The City Club
of San Diego. That is as true in 2003 as it was in 1975 when The City
Club began. In faithful observance of that purpose, The City Club
has presented, in the highest public interest, more than 750 programs.
The City Club starts 2003 with four great programs: "A Look at the Economy for '03" on January 3; a Super Bowl Week XXXVII breakfast with Sport's Illustrated's Rick Reilly on Friday, January 24; a dinner program with former Colorado Senator Gary Hart on Thursday, February 6 (co-sponsored by Point Loma Nazarene University), and a luncheon with Will Willimon, Dean of the Chapel at Duke University, on Thursday, February 27.

Baseball and writers go together like apple pie and the American flag on the 4th of July.
The Great Fenway Park Writers Series celebrates those two magical qualities, the poetry of baseball and the power of the written word – one and inseparable.
But baseball and literature are not indivisible from the society in which their special qualities are renown. A writers series worthy of its intent seeks to reflect as well the dynamic of the broader society – beyond ballparks and box scores.
The Boston Red Sox are committed to the proposition that writers and literature have a unique standing in American life and culture. The Great Fenway Park Writers Series honors that distinction.
